RESEARCHING IMAGES WITH IMAGES (2026)
A talk at the Doctorate School Plus, Popular Culture Studies
TALKS
SYNOPSIS
How do you study an image without dissolving it into words? This talk, given in the Doctorate School Plus programme Popular Culture Studies at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Sascha Trültzsch-Wijnen and Prof. Dr. Nils Grosch, set out a method that keeps the image in play: researching images with images.
Rather than treating a picture as an illustration of an argument made elsewhere, the approach works through the visual itself — collaging, assembling and montage as forms of arts-based research.
